The trip is the favorite part of every adventurer, that is why during the trip we give you some suggestions that will do you good:
1- Respect the environment
Respecting the environment is basic. This is probably the most important advice of all and the one that should be engraved in fire, it is very important to take care of the environment and not to leave garbage lying around the places you visit, both gray water and black water liquids must be dumped in appropriate areas such as gas stations, rest areas or campgrounds.
2- Overnight stay in a van correctly
A very important point to take into account is to spend the night correctly and it is necessary to differentiate between parking, spending the night and camping.
PARKING is to stop a vehicle in a place for a certain period of time. To park correctly we must do it without exceeding the road markings delimiting the parking area, nor the time limitation of the same, if any.
PERNOCTING is the act of sleeping inside the parked van. When parked, we can sleep inside our vehicle because it is considered a private space. Apart from sleeping, while parked you can live inside. You can open elements as long as they do not exceed the perimeter of our van, i.e., we can open the roof or the skylight or the window if it is sliding.
CAMPING is when we exceed the perimeter of our van and take outside awnings, table, chairs, or folding windows. In Spain, free camping is prohibited. You can only camp in places intended for this purpose such as campsites or rest areas among others.
3- Safety when traveling by van
Another important point for many travelers is security and avoiding possible theft. It is necessary to never leave anything in sight. Take the necessary precautions to avoid being broken into and do not park or spend the night in places that do not give you a good feeling. If you do not feel safe, try to sleep the first nights in camping sites or motorhome areas accompanied by other vans.
4-Interior temperature control
Your van will be your home so you should try to maintain a good temperature inside for greater comfort. Remember to take thermal protectors, they will help you both in winter and summer. And in summer look for shades for the hottest hours and try to create a ventilation circuit to circulate the air. Remember to rest every 2 hours of driving because fatigue causes a lack of attention on the road, so it is advisable to make a mandatory stop every 2 hours or 200 kilometers. Drink water, get up, stretch a little and ideally change drivers. So a co-driver to replace you would be ideal for a long trip.
5- Food for 3 days
Storage space is tight, so the ideal in a van or motorhome is to plan meals for the next two or three days. This way you will be able to carry the necessary ingredients and no food will be wasted. Take advantage of the travel days to eat healthy with organic products that you get along the way.
